My favorite hobby is snowboarding. I would be up on the mountain, and it’s not like I would carry pads and tampons everywhere. I had white snowboard pants and it was just embarrassing. I had heavy periods for 10 years, but they got really bad the last two years.  They became really unpredictable.

At work, when I did work with clients, I didn’t want to stand up in front of them because I was afraid I had leaked. I would wear a tampon and pad, and stretch pants, and a skirt and I bled through it. I realized I couldn’t work and deal with this at the same time. I knew something had to be done.

They put me on birth control pills and honestly I didn’t want to use them. So I tried it for about a month, but I don’t like putting hormones in my body.  When I finally went to see a physician, she scheduled my NovaSure procedure.

I went in for a D&C first and then NovaSure. I had discharge once and spotting once and I haven’t had my periods since then. I only have cramping here and there.
